One of the benefits of cannabis moving into the mainstream is the reimagining of what it means to be a cannabis user. In fact, many successful people are open about their experiences with cannabis products, busting the myth of the ineffective stoner. Here is a list of some famous folks who have been open about their support of cannabis legalization. 

Bill Gates

Bill Gates is known to be one of the most successful and affluent businessmen in America. He is also a well-known philanthropist and is not afraid to vocalize his support of certain legislative matters. He publicly supported the 2012 referendum to legalize cannabis in Washington state. In a biography about Gates author Stephen Manes wrote, “As for drugs – well, Gates was certainly not unusual there. Marijuana was the pharmaceutical of choice.” 

Stephen King

Famous horror author and filmmaker Stephen King has been open about his use of cannabis and his beliefs about the legalization of marijuana. King has previously stated, “I think that marijuana should not only be legal, I think it should be a cottage industry. It would be wonderful for the state of Maine.”

Snoop Dogg

A list of influential cannabis users would not be complete with not be complete without the O.G cannabis enthusiast Snoop Dogg. He has been vocal about his love for marijuana since the earliest days of his career. Snoop has been also been growing as a cannabis industry pioneer with his own venture into the emerging legal cannabis industry. Following Snoop, we have his unconventional buddy Martha Stewart. While the two may seem like unlikely friends, Stewart and Dogg have bonded. Stewart is probably more well-known for her TV cooking shows and houseware lines. She has also been opening up about using CBD products to relieve pain in her tendon muscles. Tyson said his collaborations cater to “a broad set of individuals and meet the cannabis consumption methods they seek.”
